History of Baby Steps Resources
Welcome to Baby Step's updated web site.
Way, back before electricity (just kidding!) our original web site was designed for parenthood but over the years we have grown and changed as there seem to be far to many web sites out there telling parents what they should and should not do! Instead, we take our inspiration today from providing individuals with information about daily living, including parenthood and allowing them to decide for themselves.
Why 'Baby Steps'?
Way, way back in the 80's there was a movie. The name of the movie completely illuded me for years until out of the woodwork came a number of friends who identified it as 'What About Bob?'. It had a very simple story line. A psychologist had a patient who had a phobia of germs and simply had trouble getting through day to day life outside his apartment. The psychologist gave him a copy of his latest book called 'Baby Steps' and over the course of the movie the patient came to sing the books praises as it allowed him to take simple steps to get through life easier.
My recollection of the movie is certainly fuzzy but towards the end of the movie it comes to light that the patient, after months of carrying this book around, had achieved more than most patients with his condition but had not even opened the cover of the book. He merely took the title seriously and dealt with things one baby step at a time.
It is with a similar philosophy that Baby Steps is here for you online.
